If You See a Cardinal, Here’s What It Means!

One of the joys of winter is the sighting of a bright-red cardinal sitting amidst bare tree branches or flashing across a gray sky.  Cardinals are beloved birds for their beauty and bold colors. But do you know the symbolism and meaning of cardinals that visit your backyard?

For many bird lovers, the sight of a cardinal holds special meaning, sometimes evoking emotional or spiritual feelings. They say the vibrant red bird is an uplifting, happy sign that those we have lost will live forever, so long as we keep their memory alive in our hearts. As cardinals sing their delightful song, people may recall cherished memories of better times. The beautiful birds are a reminder that loved ones can never be forgotten.

To other people, spotting a cheerful red cardinal means that their family member or friend is safe and happy, even if they are far away. Cardinals also offer a bright spot of color in the winter; they’re a symbol of hope and joy, particularly near the Christmas season.  Cardinals bring life and color and give us hope to help us pass the cold days as we prepare for the new year in spring.

We have a pair of cardinals in our backyard and have enjoyed watching them raise their young this past spring.  As a young girl, cardinals were always my favorite bird.  I love the deep red color and beautiful song!  Growing up, Roger’s mom would always brighten my days by giving me decorative cardinals. She passed away in March, and every time I see our cardinal in the backyard, it brings me hope for the future and warm love from my memories of her.

This holiday season is a perfect time to reach out to your loved ones and show how much you love and appreciate them.  It’s about spending time together to laugh and enjoy the warmth of the beautiful season of hope and new beginnings yet to come in 2022.  All of us at Amundson Dental Associates wish you and your family a beautiful and hopeful holiday season!
